Tech-first D2C insurer ACKO has acquired Bengaluru-based OneCare, a digital chronic care management company.

While the company did not disclose the all-cash transaction amount, it said that Dr Rakesh Shivran and Sagar Bhat, the co-founders of OneCare, will join the leadership team of ACKO.

“We’re constantly redefining the healthcare landscape for our customers at ACKO. We have acquired OneCare whose core business values emphasize a customer-first approach and comprehensive care, sharing our common goals to alleviate customer pain points,” said Varun Dua, Founder and CEO of ACKO.

“Integrating OneCare’s capabilities will help us weave cutting-edge clinical care directly into our customers’ insurance experiences, ensuring they receive the best possible care,” he added.

ACKO sees the acquisition as a part of its strategy to build a healthcare ecosystem that addresses all aspects of a customer’s health insurance needs, from protection to prevention to care and recovery, the company said in a statement.

“We see a tremendous opportunity to scale our impact and to transform the way care gets delivered to millions across the country,” said Dr Rakesh Shivran and Sagar Bhat, co-founders of OneCare.

OneCare has an omnichannel model of chronic care delivery, which is built around advanced wearables & clinical insights.

Founded by Varun Dua in 2016, ACKO builds and operates technology and services platforms. The company also launched a unique Extended Battery Warranty plan in partnership with OEMs Ather and Hero.

ACKO previously acquired digital health platform Parentlane in March 2023.
