OnePlus just announced that its upcoming OnePlus 12 features Pixelworks’s X7 independent visual processor to offer stunning visual quality to enhance the gaming experience. HyperRendering feature on the OnePlus 12, powered by the X7 processor will help the device to deliver 2K resolution visuals at 120fps and with an ultra-low latency of just 10ms.

The OnePlus 12 is not the first smartphone to include Pixelworks X7 visual processor, which has already been featured on smartphones like the realme GT 5, realme GT2 Explorer Master Edition, and the Redmi K60 Ultra. However, most of these smartphones are limited to China, and the OnePlus 12 is the first global smartphone to offer this independent chip to enhance gaming experience and visual quality.

How does the Pixelworks X7 chip work?

The independent X7 chip makes use of the graphics rendering technique called distributed rendering architecture, where, it takes the reference frames generated by the GPU, which will usually be of low resolution and low frame rate, and then processes the same to output the final image, which will be of higher resolution, higher frame rate, and even offers better power savings.

Some of the key features of the X7 visual processor include high efficiency super resolution+ always-on HDR, skin tone management, colour accuracy, and low latency MotionEngine technology.

Other key features of the OnePlus 12 include the 4th Gen Hasselblad-powered triple camera setup with a 3x telephoto zoom lens and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the most powerful mobile chip from Qualcomm. Along with the OnePlus 12, the company is also launching the affordable OnePlus 12R at the Smooth Beyond Belief launch event on January 26, in New Delhi.
