In a joint operation, the UP Special Task Force (STF) and the Gujarat Police rescued a 14-year-old girl from three abductors Monday.
The girl went missing after leaving her home for shopping in Gujarat’s Navsari district Friday. On Saturday, the victim’s father received a WhatsApp call wherein the caller told him that his daughter had been abducted and he demanded Rs 1 crore as ransom amount for her safe release.
After receiving the call, the victim’s parents contacted the Gandevi police and informed them about the incident. The police gathered information about the girl and also checked footage captured from CCTV cameras in the market area.

With the help of the UP STF, the Gujarat (Navsari) police caught Samir Pathan (main accused) and two of his aides travelling in a state transport bus on the national highway near Moradabad in UP, and rescued the girl safely. The Navsari police are on their way back to Gujarat with the abductors and the victim.
Talking to the Indian Express, Surat Range IGP V Chandrashekhar said, “After kidnapping the girl from Navsari, the accused took her to Surat and they later reached Dahod in a state transport bus. The accused later boarded a train to Delhi with the victim. The accused stayed at their relative’s house in Delhi on Sunday, and on Monday morning they left for Lucknow in a state transport bus. Our police teams were chasing them and with the help of the UP STF, we intercepted the bus near Moradabad, caught the accused, and rescued the girl unhurt.”
Navsari Local Crime branch police inspector D S Korat said, “The victim girl was in contact with Samir Pathan… through social media… They became friends. We have caught Samir Pathan and two of his aides. The names of the two other accused will be disclosed once the team arrives in Navsari and after their roles are specified.”
