Irish chef Alan Fisher has shattered the world record for the longest cooking marathon, ousting previous record holder Hilda Baci, clocking an impressive 119 hours and 57 minutes, Guinness World Records (GWR) revealed.

Fisher surpassed Baci’s previous record by more than 24 hours, GWR said.

Fisher also broke the record for the longest baking marathon (individual) by surpassing the record set by Wendy Sandner of the US at 31 hours and 16 minutes.

Alan tackled both challenges consecutively, spending over 160 hours working in his restaurant in Japan, with just over a day of rest in between, earning him well-deserved recognition from GWR.

“What’s even more impressive is that Alan took on both attempts back to back, meaning he was at work in the kitchen for over 160 hours with just over a day of rest in between,” shared GWR.

Users on X, formerly Twitter, shared their appreciation for the chef. “This man bagged 2 records …The longest cooking marathon and the longest baking marathon…and he did everything same day….Making it 160 hours in the kitchen …Nahhh he’s too good,” said one. Another user commented, “That was so fast. Sheesh”.
