CIA inspector on morning walk shot at in Amritsar; 3 of a family found murdered in Tarn Taran | Amritsar News

Unidentified people Wednesday morning allegedly fired gunshots at a Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) staff inspector while he was on a morning walk in Punjab’s Amritsar, officials said.
The officer – Prabhdeep Singh – who was wearing a bulletproof jacket at the time of the attack survived the assault with minor injuries. He received four shots and was rushed to a hospital in Amritsar, the police said, adding that Singh had been allegedly receiving threats over the past few days.
In another incident, three members of a family, including two women and one man, were found murdered in the Tung village in Tarn Taran district of Punjab on Tuesday night, the police said.
The deceased have been identified as Iqbal Singh, his wife Lakhwinder Kaur and their sister-in-law Sita Kaur.
According to the police, the murder is believed to have occurred during a planned robbery.
A migrant worker who had been staying in the house for a long time is absconding after the murders, they added.
The police have launched an investigation into the matter.

The couple is survived by a son who lives abroad and daughters who are married.
In the wake of the incident, the BJP has slammed the AAP-led state government for being mere spectators to the rising murder incidents in Punjab.
“Last night, a gruesome incident occurred in the village of Tung in the Tarntaran district, where three family members were brutally killed inside their home. I express my condolences to the grieving family and urge the authorities to swiftly apprehend the culprits,” BJP president Sunil Jakhar posted on Facebook.
