Assembly Elections 2023 Live Updates: Amid discontent among Rajasthan BJP MPs over the party’s candidate list for the upcoming assembly polls, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has now said a team has been formed for the “damage control”. Addressing the media on Tuesday, Meghwal said, “A team has been formed for damage control. The team is being headed by MoS Kailash Choudhary. I too have spoken with 8-10 people. We hold reviews every day.”

The BJP’s strategy of fielding seven of its 24 MPs from the state has miffed some BJP leaders who have lost their seats to the parliamentarians. However, the party will carry on with its campaign programmes scheduled across the state today. BJP national secretary and co-incharge of Rajasthan Vijaya Rahatkar will visit Barmer and Balotra for poll-related events.

Speaking at a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh’s Shadol district on Tuesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi termed caste census an “X-ray” of the country that will throw light on the condition of OBCs, Dalits and tribals, and said his party would force the Centre to conduct this exercise “come what may”. Accusing the PM of not speaking on the issue, he said “We challenged Prime Mnister Narendra Modi to release the data of the caste census done by the Congress. But instead of talking about it, he talks about Pakistan, Afghanistan and South…Speak on caste census.”
