His comments came as Prime Minister Narendra Modi also referred to the Enforcement Directorate’s allegations during a rally in Chhattisgarh earlier in the day as he said “they (Congress) have not even spared the name of Mahadev”.
On claims that Baghel took Rs 508 crore from Mahadev betting app promoters, Paatil in his address to reporters in Surat said, “The syndicate of the betting application promoters are operating remotely from foreign soil, and they are running the racket of thousands of panels across the country through their close aides and friends. They have earned a lot of money from Chhattisgarh. The Enforcement Directorate arrested four accused in this case and are carrying out investigations of crime worth over Rs. 450 crore.”
“A case has been registered against 14 accused. It was found that the app promoters paid Rs 508 crore to Baghel. As per the confession of an accused, the money was sent to him for spending in the state assembly elections,” he further added. Stepping up the attack, Paatil said, “BJP has questioned Congress and Baghel and we are expecting a reply on all the allegations. Our demand is that legal action should be taken against him and Congress leaders should take responsibility.”
Baghel and Congress have rejected claims by the Enforcement Directorate amid a probe into the betting app case.
