It’s a known fact that Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher shared a solid friendship with Satish Kaushik. Kher was even seen taking charge of the family like a guardian after Kaushik passed away earlier this year, following a heart attack. In a recent interview, the Uunchai actor spoke about losing his best friend and how that has left a vacuum in his life. He also shared that even though they are deeply affected, he and Kapoor do not talk about Kaushik when they meet.
In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Anupam Kher shared he would never get over Kaushik’s death. Calling him his ‘habit’, the actor added that he might be anywhere in the world but he would continue to miss him. “He was always there. Like I was always there for him. I still was a little starry with him, but he was not like that. He had a great sense of giving. And he was always there to listen to… How can you replace him? How can you think about…,” Kher shared.

Kher said that he “hates” talking about Satish Kaushik’s death as it still makes him teary-eyed. He said that it was “no age to go” and that his friend had “many dreams to fulfill”.
Sharing that Kaushik’s death shocked him as much as his father’s and how it has made him ‘lonely’, Kher said, “He had so much energy and so many, so many ideas, plans. My father’s death had shocked me a lot. Yash Chopra’s death had shocked me a lot. And my previous secretary… We used to call them secretaries, not managers at that time, Mr. Shetty. But then after that… But Satish’s death has really, really made me feel very lonely. Very lonely.”
Talking about coping with the loss along with Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher said that they avoid talking about their friend when they meet. “Even when we are together, we don’t talk about him because we know that it will upset the other person. So there is a presence of Satish Kaushik, even if we are not talking. The moment we are together, we automatically feel the absence of the other person. There was an earlier line I used to always say, sometimes you have to make your presence felt by your absence. This case, I think he’s done it in a big way.”
