Since its conceptualization three years ago and launch in January of last year, the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) aimed to disrupt the dominance of e-commerce giants like Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato, Swiggy, and others.
After one year of operation, ONDC has achieved certain milestones, with significant expectations pinned on its success. According to a McKinsey report, ONDC is poised to catalyze a five-fold increase in India’s digital consumption, reaching $340 billion. Additionally, an Antler report suggests it could unlock an $80-billion opportunity for startups. Redseer estimates that ONDC could generate a gross merchandise value ranging from $250 billion to $300 billion.
