Which one is worth buying?

Poco recently launched the X6 Pro, the first smartphone in the country to get Xiaomi’s super smooth HyperOS (review) out of the box. It also happens to be the first smartphone powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300 Ultra, a new chip that rivals the tried and tested Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. If you are confused between the Poco X6 Pro and Xiaomi’s new Redmi Note 13 Pro, here’s a guide that might help you decide which smartphone you should spend your hard-earned money on.

The yellow variant of the Poco X6 Pro features a faux leather back that looks and feels similar to the one on the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus, while the other colour options have a plastic back that feels like glass. However, the Redmi Note 13 Pro comes with a glass back that feels premium. Since looks are subjective, you cannot go wrong with either of these.

Poco X6 Pro vs Redmi Note 13 Pro: Display

They are lighter than other devices in the price bracket and have small bezels on the front. Both phones have symmetrical bezels on either side, with the bottom chin slightly larger than the top bezel. If you are looking from the front, it is hard to distinguish between the two. When it comes to comfort and grip, both devices are lightweight and have a boxy design that makes these devices easy to hold with one hand despite their huge screen size.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro as well as the Poco X6 Pro both have a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1.5K and have the same peak brightness of 1800 nits. On paper, these devices have the same specs and size, but the colours may appear a bit different because of the default colour profile.

Poco X6 Pro vs Redmi Note 13 Pro: Performance

The Poco X6 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Ultra, a new mid-range chip that rivals the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which is often found on more expensive phones like the Nothing Phone (2) and OnePlus 11R. Compared to the Redmi Note 13 Pro, which packs the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip, the Poco X6 Pro is miles ahead when it comes to gaming and benchmark scores.

Festive offer

While the Poco X6 Pro can easily run most games at 120fps, which is surprising given it is a mid-range phone, the Note 13 Pro might struggle to run titles like Genshin Impact and Diablo at 60fps if you plan to play hours on end. If you are looking for a phone that can easily handle the latest games at high settings, the Poco X6 Pro is a no-brainer.

Poco X6 Pro vs Redmi Note 13 Pro: Software

The Poco X6 Pro is the first phone in the country to ship with HyperOS based on Android 14 out of the box, whereas the Redmi Note 13 Pro, for reasons only known to the company, runs on an older version of Android (MIUI 14 based on Android 13). However, Xiaomi has said that it will roll out HyperOS based on Android 14 for the Redmi Note 13 Pro soon.

While both devices are slated to get 3 OS updates, since the Note 13 Pro comes with an old Android version, it will only be updated till Android 16 while the X6 Pro will get Android 17.

Also, these smartphones come with a ton of bloatware, but most of it can be easily uninstalled. When it comes to software support, the Poco X6 is once again the clear winner.

Poco X6 Pro vs Redmi Note 13 Pro: Camera

Poco’ X series devices may be faster than their Redmi Note counterparts, but one area where they often lose out is the camera department. Both phones have an 8MP ultrawide sensor alongside a 2MP sensor but differ when it comes to the primary camera, which is what people mostly use.

The Note 13 Pro boasts a 200MP primary camera backed by Samsung’s HP1 sensor, which was launched in 2022 while the Poco X6 Pro has a 64MP Omvision chip. Both devices can capture detailed photos in the daytime with the ultrawide sensor capturing decent images. However, we will wait to test phones to see the difference.

Poco X6 Pro vs Redmi Note 13 Pro: Price and availability

The base variant of the Redmi Note 13 Pro with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage costs Rs 25,999 while the Poco X6 Pro with 8GB and 256GB storage can be purchased for Rs 26,999.

With a price difference of just Rs 1,000, the Poco X6 Pro with HyperOS and double the storage offers more value for money compared to the Redmi Note 13 Pro. The slightly higher price tag is also compensated by the huge performance difference and an additional OS update.

If you are looking for a good mid-range device with a decent camera, superb gaming performance and a fast AMOLED panel, the Poco X6 Pro is the clear winner between the two. However, if you don’t care about the latest Android features and want a good camera phone that can take detailed photos, the Redmi Note 13 Pro with its 200MP camera can be a good choice.
