A vision document laid out by the Pan IIT Association in Bengaluru Friday envisions to establish Innovation Hubs (IH) across IITs, IISc, NITs among other eminent institutions with a target of generating 20 innovations per year from each institute.
Pan IIT Association is an umbrella not-for-profit organisation representing the alumni of all the IITs in the country.
The document further stresses the need to develop a blueprint for the IHs and make at least one operational by March 2024.
The document aims to promote IITs as the ‘go around’ place for innovation by 2030 by setting up IHs with a focus on Water, Skilling, Climate Action and Defence by 2029-30.
The document also proposes to set up a Fund-Raising subcommittee with a marketing and sales wing by March 31, 2024. It also proposes to start raising funds up to Rs 10 crore by 2023-24.
The association also positions itself as a facilitator to enable, accelerate, disseminate and collaborate with industries and produce at least five collaboration agreements by 2023-24. It aims to act as a ‘Market Bridge’ between industries and set up at least 20 IIT start-ups per year.
The policy also aims to set up an ecosystem to generate 50 innovations per year from 2023-24 and to promote more than 10 innovations per year in drones and robotics that help defence operations.
