Former BharatPe managing director Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain were stopped by the authorities at the Delhi airport on Thursday evening while travelling to New York on account of a lookout circular issued by Delhi Police for them, a police officer said.

The police’s Economic Offences Wing sent a summons to their Delhi home on Friday morning asking them to join an investigation at the wing’s office in the Mandir Marg in a case that pertains to the allegation that recruitment firms linked to Grover and his family members had used backdated invoices to siphon funds from BharatPe, a fintech company.
In December last year, BharatPe filed a criminal complaint against Grover, his wife and her family members for allegedly committing a fraud of Rs 81 crore.
Grover wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that he had received the summons and would cooperate with the police investigation. He added, however, that he had not received any communication from the investigative agency since May last year, when the case was filed, and that he had travelled abroad several times since then.
