Gujarat’s AAP working president Chaitar Vasava has “faith in judiciary, and would soon be back”, the state’s AAP chief Isudan Gadhvi said on Tuesday. His remarks came five days after an FIR was filed against Vasava, his wife Shakuntala and others over assault of forest officers among other charges.
Gadhvi made the comments as he met Shakuntala, who is in judicial custody, at the Rajpipla Civil Hospital where she was rushed after complaining of chest pain earlier in the day. Shakuntala was arrested last week even as Vasava continues to evade arrest.
Speaking to reporters outside the hospital, Gadhvi said that the “BJP’s trick turned on its head” and would “cost the party a great dear” in the Lok Sabha elections. “I met Chaitar’s family and also visited the farms where the forest department allegedly removed the standing crops at 2 am at night (on the day of the alleged incident)… It is clear that it is a fake case where the forest officers, despite being tribals, have acted at the behest of the BJP, which has been rattled because of the inclination of the tribals towards the AAP. The BJP tried to use the government machinery to falsely implicate Vasava but their act has gone wrong as the people of the tribal belt are extremely angry… When I landed in Dediapada today, people just came to me to say, ‘Save our hero… Chaitarbhai is our king’…”
Asked about Chaitar’s whereabouts, Gadhvi said, “Chaitar will appear in due course as he believes in the judicial system… But, the sections that have been invoked… we are consulting the Supreme Court lawyers. Imagine, that he got the Forest Department to pay compensation to the farmers (whose standing crops were allegedly removed) and clicked pictures of the Forest Department paying compensation to them… If it was extortion money, would anyone click photographs? The entire matter has been twisted.

Gadhvi also hinted that he was planning to return to his original role as a news anchor. “I will not quit politics… We missed forming a government in 2022 but in 2027, we will succeed. As far as coming back to news reporting is concerned, have you not seen double roles in films… So, in the upcoming time, you will see this tiger in a double role,” he said.
