From opting for a RRR concept to derma packages, laser sessions to hydra facials, fitness membership to spa services, residents of Chandigarh are opting for unique gifts this Diwali.

In a shift from the traditional dry fruits and sweets, UT Commissioner Anindita Mitra said that this year, she has opted for the RRR concept of ‘Reduce Reuse and Recycle’ to gift family and friends.

She said that the things that she hasn’t used, she is gifting those as per the likes of her near and dear ones.

“We are using the RRR concept within the family. For example, any item like a saree or anything that I have but never used, I am giving it to my family members,” Mitra said, adding that to put dry fruits as shagun, she is using small potlis made from the fabric from Re 1 store so it is also reusable.

Priyanka Khanna, a resident of Sector 2 said that since more people are into fitness these days, she is deviating from the conventional gifting items of food this year. “I am choosing things based on people’s interests. I have gifted my sister and friends laser sessions and derma treatment packages. It is up to them to choose one. They could either opt for a thread lifting from a dermatologist or a laser session. I intentionally gifted a package at a dermatologist because they have a lot of options which are not available at a salon. Also, many people at parlours don’t have the experience of a dermatologist,” she added.

Festive offer

Panchkula Sector 12 resident Rohit Ajmani said that he gifted a spa and other similar services to his wife. “Gone are the days when people would gift sweets and dry fruits. And it is also better to gift something that makes people feel special. I gave my wife a Tress lounge’s package that includes spa and other relaxing sessions. The vouchers range between Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000,” he said, adding that he gifted his office staff at Idea Clan diyas and candles made by specially-able children.
