Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, who is hearing the 34 disqualification petitions filed against 54 MLAs of two factions of Sena, one led by Uddhav Thackeray and the other by CM Eknath Shinde, decided to club all the 34 petitions into six groups.
The tribunal will now adjudicate all the 34 petitions in six groups, instead of hearing it separately. The clubbing has been done based on the similar nature and cause of action of the petitions.
“Friday’s date was for issuing the orders on whether the 34 petitions should be clubbed or heard separately. So the honorable tribunal has decided to club these in six groups. All these 34 petitions will be heard in six parts,” a lawyer representing the Thackeray-led Sena (UBT) said.
Sena (UBT) MLA Anil Parab said, “We had requested the Speaker to club all the 34 petitions and hear it together instead of hearing all the 34 petitions separately. So now the petitions have been clubbed into the six groups. Of these, group four has the petitions filed by Sena (UBT) and two has the petitions filed by Shinde-led Sena,” Parab said.

While hearing the documents the Speaker has also instructed both the factions of Sena to make a submission of all the documents which they have submitted in the Supreme Court by October 25 and has given October 26 as the next date for hearing.
Narwekar also asked the Thackeray-led Sena to not submit more applications before him as it can be time consuming and can delay the whole procedure.
After the Supreme Court came down heavily on the Speaker for delay in the adjudication of the disqualification petitions, Narwekar is set to submit a fresh timeline for adjudication of the petitions within three months. A source said Narwekar is also expected to meet Advocate General (AG) Biren Saraf in Mumbai next week and also travel to New Delhi to consult Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta before submitting the revised schedule to the SC on October 30 to discuss the issue.
