On its seventh Friday in theatres, after over a month of complete domination, Jawan has started slowing down at the box office. The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer has emerged as one of the most successful films in the history of Bollywood during the course of its release, but on its 43rd day of release, the film seemed to truly be nearing the end of theatrical run. Directed by Atlee, Jawan earned Rs 45 lakh at the box office, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This takes the film’s domestic nett collection to Rs 638.42 crore.
Jawan’s international earnings too have been grand; the film has made over Rs 1141.5 crore, also according to Sacnilk.
Jawan is still one of the most screened film in the country, with over 500 shows running only in cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. However, the occupancy percentage has started dropping with under 10% in Mumbai and Delhi, and around 50% in two southern metros.

Jawan’s journey at the box office has been remarkable. The film, also starring Nayanthara and Deepika Padukone, released on September 7, roughly a month after Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 debuted in cinemas. While both the films have crossed several milestones when it comes to box office collections, Jawan turned out to have the biggest box office opening ever seen by a Hindi film. Its first day earnings were Rs 75 crore across all languages. It is currently the highest earner of the year 2023, and the most successful Hindi film in Bollywood of all time in India.
Jawan is also the second-biggest Bollywood movie at the global box office, and the fifth-biggest Indian movie of all time, behind KGF: Chapter 2, RRR, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Dangal. The distance between Jawan and KGF 2 is currently around Rs 73 crore.
Jawan was SRK’s second big release of the year after the similarly successful Pathaan, which was released on January 25 this year, and grossed over Rs 1055 crore worldwide. He’s now all set for his third big release, Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, which will debut on December 22 and clash with Prashanth Neel’s Salaar, starring Prabhas.
