Apple launched the 24-inch M1-powered iMac in 2021, making it the only device besides the MacBook Air 2020 to feature the outdated chipset. However, the tech giant might launch an updated version of the 24-inch iMac powered by its upcoming M3 chipset sometime in 2024.

A recent post by the known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo on X (formerly Twitter) suggests that the 24-inch iMac refresh is coming next year. This aligns with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s claims that the new iMac will likely be coming in 2024.

Kuo also said that a 32-mini iMac with mini LED is also in the pipeline, with Apple unveiling the high-end in 2025. While he did not share any additional information about the upcoming the iMac refresh, Gurman claims it will be powered by the M3 chip, which is rumoured to be fabricated on TSMC’s 3nm process and pack an 8-core GPU and 10-core CPU.

However, a recent report by the Japanese publication Mac Okatara, the Cupertino-based tech giant will launch a new iMac powered by the M2 and M2 Pro chips.

If these claims are true, the iMac will completely slip the company’s current M2 chip. Unfortunately, there is no word on when Apple will launch M3-powered devices, but speculations suggest the tech giant might unveil these products sometime in the second half of 2024.
