No promotion for BJP workers who fail to secure lead in election booths: Gujarat BJP Chief C R Paatil | Ahmedabad News
All 41 district-level units of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat will have their own office buildings in time for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, BJP Gujarat unit president C R Paatil said Monday. He added that the party will provide facilities to party workers but those who fail to get majority votes for the party in an election booth will not get any promotion.
“Constructing this office is the idea of our respectable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He called for a BJP office, spread across one to two acres, in each of 700 districts of the country. It should have all facilities even if it is constructed away from cities. Amit Shah, who was the then national president (of BJP) responded to this call and started constructing offices across the country. I am happy to inform you that BJP’s Gujarat unit has made arrangements to inaugurate 41 offices in all districts and major cities by March-April or latest by May,” said Paatil while addressing a meeting of BJP workers and leaders in Surendranagar after inaugurating NaMo Kamalam, the newly-constructed office building for BJP’s Surendranagar district unit.
He said that land has been purchased in all districts and construction of office buildings is in progress. He said that a BJP office will be ready for inauguration in Vadodara a few days after Diwali and that an office will be constructed in Morbi also. He also referred to the BJP office in Bhuj, the district headquarters of Kutch, which was inaugurated in July this year. The party had also inaugurated its office building in Rajkot city last year.
“These offices are the particular places where workers can meet… Modi said that in today’s time and in the future, a good office should be available to workers if we want to analyse print media, electronic media, social media, do data-based activities, etc, and prepare our strategy on the basis of it. He has made such a facility available today,” said Paatil, adding that the Surendranagar office of the BJP is a model office.
The BJP state chief said that the saffron party, which has been ruling Gujarat for the past 28 years, will make facilities available to its workers but workers will have to win electoral contests at their respective booths else the party will not promote them.
“I have been telling this from the beginning that the BJP will not be able to entrust any responsibility to those whose booth remains in the negative…” Paatil said.
Incidentally, in recent years, the BJP has gone for micro-management of elections, forming committees at election booth levels and further down to page-level committees that are in-charge of one page of the electoral roll for a given polling booth.
Paatil said that this approach has boded well for the party. “Now every worker understands that if he has to progress, he will have to win the booth, and will have to ensure that (BJP) gets the lead in booths. This will make future elections very easy,” said Paatil, adding this was the reason 1,500 new BJP workers got appointed to offices of taluka and district panchayats and municipalities in the state recently, and yet there were no protests against such appointments.
Hitendrasinh Chauhan, president of the Surendranagar district unit of the BJP, said the new office has been constructed on a 2,500 square yard plot near Magson Circle in Surendranagar. “The office has been constructed at the cost of Rs 9 crore and 700 BJP workers have donated money for the project,” he said, adding that the new office building has chambers for the party’s president, vice presidents, general secretaries, convenors for various cells, a media room, three conference rooms having a seating capacity of 50, 200 and 400, a library, a kitchen, and a mess.
Addressing the meeting, Paatil said that he was happy that when he came to lay the foundation stone of the BJP office in Surendranagar, workers and supporters pledged Rs 10.5 crore within an hour. He felicitated former minister and Mimbdi MLA Kiritsinh Rana and Sursagar Dairy Chairman Bababhai Bharwad for giving Rs 1.11 crore and Rs 1 crore donations, respectively for NaMo Kamalam.
Paatil also said Shankar Vegad, the former BJP Rajya Sabha MP who is a native of Surendranagar, was a little ‘adamant’ at the meeting and added that RS MPs should be able to donate Rs 21 lakh for such causes. “Shankarbhai was a little hesitant but, eventually, he pledged Rs 11 lakh. People clapped but said it was too little. (Turning to Vegad who was sitting on the dais) So, eventually, how much did you give Shankarbhai?… Rs 5,000? Do deposit the remaining sum, dear! You can hear people shouting, asking to give the balance. Those sent to the Rajya Sabha by the Bharatiya Janata Party should be able to contribute not Rs 11 lakh but Rs 21 lakh,” said Paatil.

The BJP state president said that while the party is making facilities available to its workers, the organisation was strong even when it did not have offices. “Office is a facility but the BJP organisation is strong. It gave Congress a run for its money even when we didn’t have offices,” said Paatil while underlining that the BJP won 156 out of 182 seats in the Assembly election in December last year while losing 20 other seats by a margin of less than 5,000 votes. He said had BJP workers worked a bit harder, the BJP would have won 176 out of 182 Assembly seats in the election in December 2022.
“Jignesh Mevani… saved his skin by 4,000 votes. If we had got 2,000 more votes, he would have been at his home today,” said Paatil while referring to Mevani’s victory from Vadgam Assembly constituency in Banaskantha district in north Gujarat region.
Paatil said thanks to Modi’s popularity, the BJP could win a thumping majority, reducing the Congress’s total votes to 80 lakh from 1.28 crore in the 2017 Assembly election. He asked workers to work hard so that the BJP can win all the 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state by a margin of five lakh votes.

Circle to Search: Share part of your screen!
According to recent reports, Circle to Search, a feature introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series in January 2024, might soon undergo an upgrade. Initially allowing users to copy text from selected areas, it’s now rumored to include the capability to capture and share screenshots of specific screen sections.
This enhanced functionality, observed in the latest version of Circle to Search, enables users to not only copy text but also capture and share screen images. A video shared by a tipster on X showcased this update, revealing new options of Copy and Share upon selecting an area. Even adjustments to the selected region don’t remove these options, ensuring a seamless experience. Users can either copy the image to the clipboard for further editing or share it directly through various apps.
Previously, the visual lookup feature solely facilitated text copying. While Android devices offer a three-finger swipe-down gesture for quick screenshots, it captures the entire screen, necessitating subsequent cropping. This new functionality streamlines the process, allowing users to select and share specific screen sections in just two steps.
Interestingly, Google recently addressed concerns about accidental activations of Circle to Search in a podcast featuring its developers. They acknowledged the issue and assured users of an impending fix. This indicates ongoing efforts to refine the feature for a smoother user experience.

Namma Yatri launches cab service in Bengaluru
In its largest market, Bengaluru, ride-hailing company Namma Yatri has expanded its services to include cab-hailing, marking a significant shift from its previous focus on auto rickshaws. Namma Yatri, known for pioneering a daily subscription model as opposed to the commission-based model utilized by competitors like Ola and Uber, had initially concentrated on auto rickshaws in Bengaluru. However, it now features a distinct section on its app dedicated to booking cabs in the city. Additionally, Namma Yatri already provides cab rides in Kochi and Kolkata.
The decision to venture into cab services follows Namma Yatri’s separation from its former parent company, Justpay, and comes on the heels of a reported expansion plan announced on April 1st. The move also aligns with the broader trend observed in the industry, as both Ola and Uber have recently introduced subscription-based plans for auto-rickshaw drivers on their platforms. This strategic shift towards subscription-based models, akin to Namma Yatri’s approach, as well as that of Rapido, highlights a growing preference within the industry for alternative pricing structures beyond traditional booking fees or commissions.
